You’ll be the go-to expert for technical support, helping our installer network navigate challenges and ensure smooth, high-quality installations. At the same time, you’ll be a key player in identifying root causes of recurring issues and implementing scalable, tech-driven solutions to future-proof the business as it grows.

Your key objectives will include:

  • Providing expert technical oversight and support for all Heat Geek heat pump installations.

  • Leveraging software and digital tools to streamline processes, analyse data, and improve outcomes.

  • Identifying recurring issues across the Heat Geek network and developing scalable, tech-led solutions to address them.

  • Managing complex installations and heightened situations with homeowners and installers, ensuring positive outcomes.

  • Developing scalable resources and processes to support a growing network of installers and customers.

Your profile

Experience and Skills

We’re looking for an experienced, qualified heat engineer who has:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with heat pump systems, including design, installation, and troubleshooting.

  • A proven track record of managing installations involving multiple parties (sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers).

  • Completed all Heat Geek courses, demonstrating mastery of our methodologies and standards.

  • Tech-savviness, with experience or a willingness to learn software tools (e.g., CRM systems like HubSpot, project management tools, data analytics platforms) to optimise workflows and analyse performance.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes of issues and implement lasting solutions.

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., MCS, CPS) and industry regulations.

  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) and experience handling escalations, ensuring customers and installers feel supported and valued.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of breaking down complex problems and delivering clear, actionable advice.

b) Key Attributes

The right person for this role will:

  • Be passionate about heat pumps and further developing the industry.

  • Be tech-savvy and enthusiastic about using digital tools to improve processes and performance.

  • Have a proactive, solutions-focused mindset, always looking to address underlying issues and innovate where needed.

  • Stay calm under pressure, managing escalations with empathy, authority, and professionalism.

  • Be detail-oriented while also keeping the bigger picture in mind.

  • Thrive in a collaborative environment, building strong relationships with installers, suppliers, and customers as well as the Heat Geek team.

  • Be a forward-thinker, anticipating challenges as the business scales and preparing accordingly.

c) What Success Looks Like

In your first year as Technical Manager, success will look like this:

  • Recurring issues across the Heat Geek network are identified and addressed through scalable, tech-driven solutions, reducing the need for reactive support.

  • Comprehensive digital tools, workflows, and resources (e.g., troubleshooting guides, support method statements) are developed and successfully rolled out, improving efficiency and satisfaction.

  • Installations meet or exceed quality and compliance standards, with fewer escalations and higher customer satisfaction.

  • Complex installations involving multiple parties run smoothly and efficiently, with minimal delays or issues.

  • Installers and stakeholders feel supported and confident, thanks to your technical expertise and effective guidance.

  • Heat Geek’s processes for installation quality and compliance are streamlined, scalable, and underpinned by smart use of technology.
